By donating your old eyeglasses, you can easily change lives. There are people all over the world with poor sight and lack of access to eyewear/eye care. Donating old eyewear that are in no use can make someone’s life much better, by regaining their sight back.
HOW DONATING EYEGLASSES WORKS
When you donate your old eyeglasses, the organization will first assess them to determine if they are usable. That’s why its important to donate only good condition eyewear and not the broken eyeglasses. Then they are sorted into various types, washed and sanitized. Next step the prescriptions are identified and the eyewear is sorted into prescription types. At this stage, eyewear is bagged and boxed to be shipped to all over the world. Your eyeglasses then get matched to someone who needs them.
The majority of the donated eyeglasses get used in medical missions. Organized trips of qualified medical professionals that provide free vision care and dispense eyeglasses in areas of the world with limited access to eye care.
